We breakfast at the B&B (it was amazing), dress for warm weather (forecast said hot and sunny), step outside to go to market day ... and, whatta ya know, it's cool and cloudy.
Au natural for the morning of fun. |
We go ahead and start walking in the small town, always on cobblestone roads with built in irrigation system in the middle of the roads, and head towards market day. Local farmers and vendors huddle in the town square! We love, love, love the ambiance of this little town. We shop, totally get caught in rain, run back to B&B, change and get rain gear out ... and, wildly enough, get a basket ready for a picnic!
Fully geared up now, we want to pick up fresh food up at the market and eat outside somewhere, but it's raining. But, we kept calm and still rocked our plans. We find some local goat farm cheese, some cake like pie thing, 1/2 loaf of fresh baked bread (wonderful, beautiful, perfect fresh baked bread), some fried somethings (yummy, ALL of it) and a bottle of champagne. We had a whole tiramisu left over from my dinner last night. (Yep, since this town is so small and cool, they said take it (being their nice glass dish and all) and walk it over tomorrow. Well, okay then. Fancy.) So, we brought that too. All bought from different vendors, because each vendor at this open market has one or two specialties, that's it. I'm in love with the way of life here. So in love, I even pick up some fresh local lavender oil and a real estate book ... dreaming all afternoon of possibilities.
Happy as can be in the rain! |
