Observations in Paris

In Paris, there are tons of dogs.  Everywhere.

This is the only dog shot I got in Paris.

And I saw many Jack Russell Terriers and Yorkies (yep, that's the two dogs we have and love).  The people LOVE their dogs here in Paris.  They can be found walking down the streets or being held in their owners' arms, they go to the stores, they sit in chairs right next to their owners at cafes and such (pulled up to the table to dine) ... or they are running along side their owners on bicycles or in bicycles baskets or even on their shoulders.  Fully embraced is the posh life of the dog.  Too bad I really did not get pictures of all these dogs!

I kept hearing you have to watch out for the dog poo in Paris, but I think I only saw fresh droppings once or twice.  No biggie.  I did, however, have to watch out for a young girl's pee on a crowded street.  She may have been 4 years old.  The mom hiked up her daughter's dress and let her pee right there and in a hurry.  Odd, but hilarious.

Also, I hardly noticed any bugs or flies at all in Paris, well, really in all the areas we visited in France.  It was May, so you'd figure bugs would abound, but they didn't.  My account with the bugs - spotted one lady bug on a woman's shirt, several small gnat like creatures (but not) smashed against my skin after I whacked them for biting me (on the open top bus ride) and one very odd dragonfly looking winged, electric blue thing that bee lined me on the streets of Paris.  That's it.  Maybe I'm used to Georgia and it's southernness, which is code for lots of bugs!

It was fascinating, as you walk down the streets ... you see people walk in and out of these large, beautiful aged doors. They were usually painted in a shade of blue or black or were solid wood, which was quite gorgeous amongst all the creams and whites and grays of the facades.  Once opened, you could momentarily see inside beautiful (and some grand) courtyards ... like you were stepping into a whole other world.  What you can't tell when doors are shut!

What's behind these doors?

Or this one?

How about this blue?

Looking in at the street into this drive and courtyard.

Another cool courtyard in Paris.

The sidewalks and streets scenes, mostly cobbled (or at least thats what stood out) or concrete or stone or metal everywhere ... only small accents of wood.  Some sidewalks even in a sand type gravel, all creamy in nature ... and not much grass.

Cobbled streets in Paris.

Cobble streets.

Cool designs in sidewalks and more.

See all that texture! Lots of stone in Paris.
